Baking Bread
Since the oven is moved out from the storeroom to the kitchen, and there were leftover ingredients from making donuts, my mum and I decided to bake bread. We decided on hotdog buns and luncheon meat buns, both which are favourites of our family. Since young, Dad has always restricted us from eating too many hotdogs and luncheon meat because they are highly processed foods which are unhealthy for us. But I just can't resist these two foods, and have always liked them in a bun or between slices of bread. We made the hotdog buns into the usual shape that we see from bakeries; but for the luncheon meat buns, we had them shaped into pillows. It turned out to be better-looking as compared to the hotdog buns. The taste was quite good, despite the fact that my mum hasn't been baking this since years ago. It was just a little bland, not sweet enough. We figured that more butter and sugar have to be added to give the bread a little more taste.
It was difficult to work without a cake mixer or bread-making machine, and since I am too inexperienced, Mum had to mix the dough personally. It was hard work, but a good workout for her arm.Everyone in the family was happy to eat homemade bread because we all know it is healthier, more freshly-made and comes without any form of preservatives. More varieties are coming up soon, keep watching this space! :)
